Activity and Selectivity of Bimetallic Catalysts Based on SBA-15 for Nitrate Reduction in Water

Nitrate from the application of nitrogen-based fertilizers in intensive agriculture is a notorious waste product, though it lacks cost-effective solutions for its removal potential drinking water resources. Catalytic reduction appears to be promising technique converting nitrates benign nitrogen gas. Mesoporous silica SBA-15 frequently used catalyst support that has large surface areas and highly ordered nanopores. In this work, mesoporous bimetallic catalysts nitrate were investigated. The was optimized selection promoter metal (Sn Cu), noble (Pd Pt) loading ratios these metals at different temperatures conditions. prepared characterized by FT-IR, N2 physisorption, XRD, SEM, ICP. All showed presence cylindrical channels uniform pore structures remained even after loading. CO2 buffer, 4Pd-1Cu/SBA-15 1Pt-1Cu/SBA-15 reduced 100?C under H2 1Pd-1Cu/SBA-15 200°C demonstrated very high conversion. Furthermore, forementioned Pd had higher selectivity (88% - 87%) compared Pt (80%). conversion significantly decreased 81% absence CO2.
